For over 20 years, I sat in the hiring manager’s chair. At places like iCapital and Realogy, I led design teams through high-stakes product launches and complex digital transformations. I’ve reviewed thousands of portfolios and interviewed hundreds of designers. I noticed a consistent, frustrating gap: most recruiters can find someone who can design a beautiful interface, but very few can find someone who understands product logic.
The Problem
The market is flooded with “pixel-pushers,” but businesses today need thinkers. They need designers who can navigate technical debt, translate business KPIs into user flows, and defend their decisions with evidence—not ego.
